Licences & attributions

CoTerran Nexus content and analysis © CoTerran. Platform outputs are research analytics provided as-is, without warranty; they are not investment, legal, or emergency advice. Aggregate crowd readings only are published — never individual forecasts or identities.

Interface software

The decorative globe on World Brief and About Nexus adapts CoTerran's own homepage globe. It is brand artwork, not a live risk visualization. The renderer uses Three.js r128, copyright © 2010–2021 three.js authors, under the MIT licence. The locally hosted vendor file retains its copyright header; the complete licence is included at apps/web/assets/vendor/THREE-LICENSE.txt.

Data sources

Source activation policy: no source is activated without a human licence review recorded as license_confirmed in the catalogue, and licence terms are evaluated per surface — internal analysis, client bundle, public bundle may each admit or exclude a source separately (docs/design-decisions.md ruling (k)).

  • Natural Earth — jurisdiction boundaries, and the country and sub-national tiers of the location gazetteer. Public domain; made with Natural Earth.
  • GeoNames — populated places (cities15000), the gazetteer's finest tier. CC BY 4.0: attribution is a licence condition. The data is engine-side only — it names places an operator can pick from, and no GeoNames record ships in a bundle — but the credit rides with it wherever the picker appears (apps/map-public/data/geo/ATTRIBUTION.md).
  • Copernicus Climate Data Store (C3S/ECMWF) — climate reanalysis and projections. Generated using Copernicus Climate Change Service information; neither the European Commission nor ECMWF is responsible for any use of the Copernicus information.
  • World Bank — World Development Indicators. CC-BY 4.0.
  • IMF PortWatch — chokepoint transit series, with attribution.
  • USGS — earthquake feeds. US public domain.
  • NOAA CPC — ENSO series. US public domain.
  • GDACS — hazard alerts, © GDACS with attribution.
  • FAO — food price indices, with attribution.
  • Esri, Maxar, Earthstar Geographics — satellite basemap imagery (World Imagery), used with attribution under Esri's terms.
  • Google News — headline/link aggregation only; article content is fetched from and attributed to the ORIGINAL publisher. Publisher content remains © its publisher; excerpts are used for research analysis with source attribution throughout.
  • News publishers (BBC, Al Jazeera, The Guardian, DW, France 24, CNA, NHK, and the catalogued Australian and regional outlets) — headlines and analysis excerpts attributed per article; each outlet's content remains © that outlet. Paid/wire sources (Reuters, AP) are not ingested pending licence agreements.

Software

  • MapLibre GL JS — BSD-3-Clause.
  • Droid Sans (typeface) — Apache License 2.0, self-hosted.
  • Open-source libraries per their respective licences (Hono, Zod, PostgreSQL client, Playwright, and the rest of the dependency tree).

Forecasts and surveys

Crowd forecasts are published as cohort aggregates with minimum-count thresholds; below threshold the platform reports "insufficient responses" rather than a value. Scenario projections are model-basis estimates under stated assumptions (versioned in the repository) and carry uncertainty ranges; the tipping-trajectory step adjustment is an analyst-basis judgment, cited where shown.
